Chris Crader

17 Black - Head Coach

Chris Crader has coached at City Beach since the club was formed in the fall of 1995, making this his 13th season. Last year, his 15 Black team earned a bronze medal at the Junior National Championships to extend an impressive streak of success teams that includes a silver medal in 2004, a bronze medal in 2005, and reaching the championship match at the Volleyball Festival in 2006.  Coach Crader has qualified his team for nationals in nine of the last 10 years.

Chris is also in his third year as the varsity head coach at Menlo School. The Knights have finished tied for fifth in the state in each of his first two seasons, are coming off of a Division IV title. Prior to Menlo, he spent six years as the assistant coach at Presentation, helping the Panthers to three CCS titles and their only appearance in the state championship match, in 2002. His 18 years of High School Varsity coaching experience include stops at Santa Clara, Castilleja, and Homestead.

Chris has also been a coach for the Northern California Regional High Performance program for the last five years. There he worked with some of the best players in the NCVA, coaching at tournaments in Utah, Texas, Slovenia and Croatia. He also has 11 years of experience as a coach at Stanford's summer camps. Overall, his players have earned All-Tournament honors at Junior Nationals 10 times, and he has coached well over 60 players who have gone on to play collegiately.

A lifelong South Bay resident, Chris was a valedictorian at Santa Clara High before going on to graduate from Stanford University. He enjoys coaching girls who really want to work hard to improve both their skills and their knowledge of the game; who want to be great, supportive teammates; and who want to have some fun along the way.
