City Beach will host over 25 different teams in the 2009 club season. The season for all teams begins in January of 2009 and runs through June, but the tryouts are at the beginning of November. We have several different levels of competition, each with a different focus. At all levels, regardless of the amount of playing time, each player receives quality instruction from coaches that care about their development and that foster a positive and sportsmanlike environment. We have a training and management structure in place that helps coaches collaborate and ensures that each player is being provided the highest quality of coaching.

Black and Green Teams (ages: 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18)
- Recommended for players with multiple years of school and power league experience -
Black and Green teams are nationally competitive and have performance-based playing time. The coaching staff of each team determines playing time and position based on practice and tournament performance. These criteria are used to keep teams nationally competitive. Coaches will provide a fair and impartial environment for each player to earn playing time. All of these teams will attend at least 2 Junior Olympic qualifiers and will play in the NCVA Power League. Teams that qualify will attend Junior Olympics at the end of the season. Teams that do not qualify will typically attend Festival. 18 Black, 18 Green, 17 Black, and 17 Green will attend the Las Vegas Classic in addition to their qualifier schedule.

White teams (ages: 14, 15, 16)
- Recommended for players with previous power and/or area league experience -
These are competitive teams that also emphasize development. Playing time and position are balanced between team performance and each player’s need to learn a skill or position. This allows for every player to play part of every match, although play time is not equally distributed. Strong competition provides the context for players to learn and develop. White teams will play in the NCVA Power League and attend the President's Day, Great America, and the Reno Far Westerns Qualifier.

Area teams (ages: 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17/18)
- Recommended for players with school, area, and/or recreational team experience -
Area teams are like White teams in that they are competitive while emphasizing development. They practice twice per week and play in the NCVA Area League. Most tournaments are close to home so players that cannot commit to a high-demand travel schedule can still get the competitive context to learn new skills.

Recreational (ages: 12, 14)
- Recommended for new players or players with limited school experience -
These teams compete in the Great America tournament only, and they practice once per week. They are all about development and fun. Everyone will get equal playing time. Players will receive excellent instruction in a low intensity environment.
